Sichuan province is known to foreign travellers for two things: firstly, as the home to the Giant Panda and secondly, for its mouth-numbingly spicy food. However, its attractions go far beyond these things. For the nature lover, there are amazing National Parks such as Jiuzhaigou Valley, Four Sisters Mountain and Yading. For the adventurous traveller, the wilds of Kham territory are the perfect destination. For those interested in minority culture, Sichuan is a goldfield as home to the only Qiang people in the world, the largest Tibetan population outside Tibet and another 51 of China’s 56 minority peoples. Along with its long history, countless Buddhist and Taoist temples, ancient towns and museums, it has something for all types of traveller.
