White Water Terraces

It was such a long drive from Lijiang to the White Water Terraces and when we arrived, our first view of the limestone rocks was disappointing. From the road, it seemed small in scale, and completely unlike the amazing pictures I'd seen of this place in the travel brochures.

Half an hour's walk later, we turned the corner and saw our first view of the terraced pools up close. We were instantly impressed, grabbed our cameras, and started snapping away! The pool formations were so regular that it was hard to believe they were naturally formed. Set against the lush green mountain scenery, the walls of white limestone made a stunning contrast. Truly amazing!
