Biasha Miao Village

When we called to arrange a village performance in Biasha we were originally told it wasn't possible- all the men and women had already gone out to the fields for the day and wouldn't be back until nightfall. However, two hours later when we arrived the teenagers of the village were all gathered at the gate, donning their traditional costumes. Gun shots went off to signal our welcome, and cups of local wine were presented to each of us as we passed through the gate.

The performance wasn't exactly "polished", in fact we got the impression that these young people were making up alot of it as they went, but their nervousness, giggles and spontaneity all added to the fun! At the end, our group of ten Australians gave a performance in return- a rousing rendition of the Hokey Pokey. Some of the villagers joined in- lots of fun!
