Fenghuang
"Fenghuang was a bit like stepping into a world of the past animated by modern people. Everywhere one looked, people were swimming, washing clothing, or using the river to make their art - the river was the center of the small town. Likewise, the restaurants we ate at reminded me of the historical China we're introduced to in movies from about the 18th or 19th century China. The streets were fun to walk up and down because like Beijing and a lot of other places in China, they were basically just alleyways, but at the same time, so many stores had unique crafts or items for sale that each was worth looking at and the shopping experience was great!. At the end of the day, we always found ourselves walking along the fortressed walls overlooking the water, searching for the home we were staying in amongst the rows of old, stone houses."
