Wenhai

"We took off in 4WD's to Wenhai, a beautifully peaceful valley 3,100m above sealevel with an alpine lake surrounded by the greenest meadow imaginable with pigs, sheep, cows, horses and yaks grazing. Apple and pear blossoms, hedgerows of wild roses, friendly villagers in traditional dress, all against a bright blue sky and snow capped mountains- just magic!

We walked through the village to Wenhai Ecolodge and our guide, Wang, went to order lunch but came back saying, "We'll just have whatever they have, okay?" "Whatever they had" was extremely impressive. Eight different dishes including stirfried fern fronds, local fungi, tasty bacon- all of them delicious!"
