Yangshuo

"Not only is Yangshou a good starting point for a hundred different adventures in the area, it's a good staying-point for anyone looking to take a breath of Western air after culture shock from the countryside.

While we enjoyed our Western treats of coffee and pizza, we equally enthusiastically dove into the Chinese countryside. At night, we wandered through the atmosphered streets, browsing t-shirt shops, silk vendors, and the sinfully attractive DVD shops (where we ended up buying new movies and cds at knockout prices).

Yangshou was certainly unlike the China I had grown accustomed to in the countryside but a visit there was a great way to end the trip."
