Zuolong Gorge

Yet to be discovered by the majority of tourists, this gorge is the adventurous traveller's dream. From a little town called Wangcun, you must travel by pedicab or private van, bumping along an unmade road for around 40 minutes. From there you enter the gorge. The hike through the gorge is no simple stroll. It requires balancing on metal spikes and wooden beams, pulling yourself up on chains, and climbing steel ladders hanging precariously on the edges of the gorge. At certain points on the walk, waterfalls pour down on you from above! This is 'getting back to nature' at its best!

At the end of the hike, there's a nice little natural pool to soak in- the perfect way to cool off on a hot day. Then just down the track the local Tujia farmers will be more than happy to cook you up some tasty local dishes to replenish your energy.
