6 day nature and culture tour of Western Hunan Day 1: ZHANGJIAJIE Arrive in Zhangjiajie city in the evening. Transfer to your hotel in Zhangjiajie city. Day 2: ZUOLONG GORGE- FENGHUANG (B, L, D) Travel to Zuolong Gorge where you'll enjoy a challenging, adventurous hike up ladders, balancing on metal spikes and pulling yourself along chains through beautiful forest, along the banks of rivers and up through waterfalls. Continue onto Fenghuang ancient town, a mixture of wooden and stone houses built on the banks of the Tuo River. This town is the centre of the Miao minority people and has a history of over 1200 years. That night, enjoy duck hotpot for dinner, in a restaurant overlooking the Tuo River. Stay in Fenghuang overnight. Day 3: FENGHUANG- DEHANG MIAO VILLAGE (B, L, D) Explore the ancient stone paths and alleyways of Fenghuang at your leisure. See the women beating clothes down by the river. Visit a local folk artist, Liu Da Pao, a master at batik. Then in the afternoon drive to Dehang Miao village. Hike for an hour to Liusha Waterfall. Watch a Miao song and dance performance. Overnight at Dehang. Day 4: WANGCUN-MENGDONG RIVER WHITE WATER RAFTING (B, L, D) Travel to Wangcun minority town. Enjoy a passive whitewater rafting trip on Mengdong River. Continue onto Zhangjiajie, where you will visit the Tujia Minority Folk Museum to get to know more about the Tujia culture and traditions. Overnight in Wulingyuan (near the National Park). Day 5: ZHANGJIAJIE NATIONAL PARK (B, L, D) Visit the Zhangjiajie National Park, China's first National Park. Hike up 3800 steps or take a cable car to Yellow Stone Village- the number one viewing spot. After your descent, go for a stroll along Golden Whip Stream. Chances are you will see some wild monkeys along the way. Day 6: ZHANGJIAJIE NATIONAL PARK- YELLOW DRAGON CAVE (B, L, D) Spend another half day hiking in the National Park. This time visit Tianzi Mountain, the highest viewing platform, offering expansive views of the craggy limestone scenery. In the afternoon, drive out to Yellow Dragon Cave, a 20-hectare wide cavern with a vertical height of over 100 meters. This cave is home to an impressive collection of stalactites and stalagmites, illuminated in a variety of colored lights. Return to Zhangjiajie for your evening flight. |
